P1 Wimax General Discussion

Postby izzatz13 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:05 pm

I've subscribed P1 Wimax since August 2009. Overall satisfactions is ups and downs. Right now I can only used it when I'm in college, Setapak Jaya but when I'm back in Butterworth, Penang the coverage still limited. P1 promised all Penang will be fully covered by the end of this year. It's already December yet the promises still unforeseen.

I've heard lot of complaints from them lately. Their latest "potong" promotions has been quite a success thus increasing subscriber means a limited bandwidth for current subscriber.

Recent update about them can be read here. http://izzatz.com/latest-p1-wimax-modem-named-tower-and-shuttle/

Anyone wanna release their anger towards P1? Cmon you shall do so here.

I had subscribed P1W1max because i was a little bit pissed off by my Maxis Broadband, EDGE connection for two days and one of the day is my birthday :)).
I subscribed P1 last Saturday so still in the 7 days cooling period. Thinking of returning it tomorrow. For the first two days it was very fast, even watching youtube was satisfactory. Then somehow on Monday most of the time it is kind of slow. I had complained to the customer service that had call me to do a survey. She said maybe it was congested. But I said it was 7am in the morning. How can it be congested when most of Malaysians are either in the bath or on the bed.
Then my Maxis Broadband came to life, the usual HSDPA speed I always get. Then Monday night i tried to surf again with P1 but the page gets too slow loading. I gave up and connect to Maxis instead. Today Maxis Broadband customer service get back to me regarding my complaint email on the connection as promised, that is within two days. Today I tried again to surf with P1, unfortunately it rains heavily in KL. So another no connectivity. But my maxis broadband is still connected as usual. So the P1 modem goes into the box tonight.

I wanted to give P1W1max a chance but I have only 7 days. If i return after 7 days understand that we have to pay like a hefty of handling fee. That I am not quite sure. But I know it is another ridiculous amount. I don't want to continue using something for the contract of two years and made me regret in later days. As for complaing, i really don't want to waste my time calling them and have to wait for solution. I have used my Maxis Broadband for almost 1 year. Not really a problem, only here and there slow connection but not frequent and tolerable.

That is my rant about the broadband :)).. For my experience using celcom, it was a nightmare compare to maxis broadband. Maybe in certain areas are ok. But for me I have put my foot down for celcome broadband. If none of the broadband are really satisfactory.. then should consider using streamyx ;)

Thanks for the feedback annelyda.

Well its good to know that you choose to stick with Maxis. I heard maxis were good too. Sometimes it all depends on how someone can tolerate to their broadband operators. A couple of downtime in a week shouldn't be a problem right?

But right now P1 seems can't get a hold to their services. They started to be little bit greedy I might say. Lots of unanswered support tickets and complaints from the customer.

P1 need to do something to retain their customer base before they starting to potong P1 instead. Nice catchy promotions that might backfired them soon.

no problem izzat.. had the broadband modem return to P1 W1max office today and got a refund cheque of RM100 on the spot. I explained that the connection was not that good though. If rainy days then no connection at all. my friend also had the trouble with P1 W1MAX.

greedy yes. they should know they would support a large group of customers now since their marketing strategies had boost their sales.

yeap decides to stay with maxis. maxis is ok. well maxis down time is not that frequent though. tolerable since I had used them for almost a year and they do not dissappoint me. ur had tried using P1 as well eh?

Not that I tried. I'm subscribing to it now. Tied with the contract. Honestly during the trial period my connection was smooth enough. No hiccups whatsoever. It all started 2 months after I used it. The speed started to slow down etc.

But overall I'm quite satisfied with P1. Just that some of their annoyances that made me feel like want to potong them. Which one? I'll reveal their latest silly act soon enough. Quiet big that if you bring this evidence to their HQ at Petaling Jaya and make some noise I'm sure they will allow you to terminate without any penalty fees.

I want to go their HQ to and downgrade my plan maybe.

I'm working on it.

The idea is simple. Just submit lot of feedback to them. Call thei customer support. Lodge your report. Submit all the speedtest. After that go to their HQ and proved your problem with previous reports.

They have to terminate your account after all. That's all ;)

My experience:
1. The first mistake I made was to delete my earlier default networking setting in the network connection icon for my streamyx when I first installed Ubuntu 9.0.4. as such I had to configure a new network setting.
2. The second mistake was to configure the network connection under the wireless tab as I was using a computer.
To setup modem for a computer: right click the network connection icon>edit connection>network connection>wired tab>add>change default connection name to that of your choice (leave alone is also OK)>apply.
To whom it may concern, I have been a loyal Streamyx user for a couple of years now but have decided to shift to P1 WIMAX for the following reasons:
1. Streamyx contract does not cover wiring issues and problems from the modem to the Streamyx connection outside the house. This can be a hassle when the culprit to poor connections is this. (It has happened 4 times for my brother due to rain, lighting, civet? rats?)
2. It has been extremely difficult to get a Streamyx customer relation officer to send a technician just to check and A-B the modem with a new modem. It may imply that they will not meet their KPI or incompetent at their job or don't want to spend money to hire a contractor or replace a modem.
3. The modem and router is mobile if need be.
4. Only need to pull the power supply wire off the modem to prevent it from being short-circuited during a thunderstorm as against power-supply and streamyx cable for streamyx modem.
5. My house has P1 WIMAX coverage.
6. P1 WIMAX slight faster than streamyx for the package I took.
